Progress

Case 1

We have resolved 2 cases, our team خود مختار first contacted those cases on the telephone and then decided to visit them. We went to Wadena, district Kasur on the 5th of February on Friday 11 am and our members Abdul Majid, Sabeena, Mukhtar Javed, and Naveed Ahmad did a little investigation, asked them a different question we had prepared earlier and the questionnaire was made by mutual discussions; major efforts were from Abdul Majid. We found that women having 5 kids living in a village and her husband didn’t do a full-time job, he was a daily wager and that women wanted to support her family to bring up her 5 kids through the skill she knows i.e. stitching clothes. We confirmed the case after investigation and decided to provide a motor-driven sewing machine to her.

For this Abdul Majid visited the market near McCloud road, Lahore to have the idea of the amount we needed to complete case 1. Usama Manzoor designed the poster for fundraising and we uploaded it to our WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram stories and shared it in our circles.

First, we faced a lot of difficulty in collecting donations and then we requested Naveed Ahmad and he managed to get an amount of Rs. 5000/- from his company Hari’s & Co Concern Engineering Private Limited, and that helped us a lot. Within a week, we were able to collect an amount of Rs. 10,000/-.

Sabeena Saleem visited the market in Kasur for purchasing the sewing machine and then after discussing with her mother, she went and bought the machine from Okara due to the quality of product available there. We delivered the machine to that lady after a week and that was a feeling we can’t describe, getting done with our first case.

Naveed Ahmed and Mukhtar Javed designed the Thank you poster and we shared it with our donors to thank them.

Case 2

On the same day, 5th February 2021, our team members Abdul Majid, Naveed Ahmad, Mukhtar Javed visited a village Mehlam Khurd near Khuddian, district Kasur for our second case investigation.

They found a family of 6 members with 4 siblings; their father was a daily wager and the eldest daughter of her knew the skills of stitching. We verified the case after looking at many situations and after asking different questions from them. We decided to provide a sewing machine to that girl so that she can support her family in these difficult times.

Mukhtar and Abdul Majid designed the poster for the fundraising of our second case. This time people trusted us and donated to us showing a trusted attitude. We collected Rs. 10,000/- within 5 days and a major donor was one with the donation of Rs. 6000/-.

We bought the 2nd machine from Okara also and delivered it to the family.

At last, team خود مختار was able to provide start-ups to two skilled and deserving females.

Changes

Our group members decided a slogan for the organization and that was ‘Khudi pe Yakeen’.

Collaboration with Printbazar .pk

We successfully collaborated on issues with Printbazar .pk and the major efforts were from Mukhtar Javeed Side. After group discussion, we agreed on the fact that we are facing issues to find our case 3. So a collaboration idea came to our mind with media activists, who not only help us in finding the case but also let people acknowledge and promote our organization. Case 3 was found with the cooperation of Printbazar .pk.

Collaboration with Haris & Co

To manage the financial support, we decided to have a partnership with any company or institute in a short time. We thought of it and decided to request Haris & Co Concern Engineering Private Limited as they also donated us for case 1 as well as for Edhi Sb foundation. Sabeena Saleem wrote a sponsorship request letter after discussing the clauses with its team. Since Naveed Ahmed wrote at Hari’s & Co Concern Engineering Private Limited as “System Administrator”, he shared the idea with his colleagues and came to the CEO of the Company with the request letter. The CEO appreciated him for the success achieved in 21 days to provide start-up to 2 families. Finally, they have partnered with خود مختار on February 10, 2021.

We have updated this news on social media and the poster was designed by Mukhtar Javed and Sabeena Saleem.

Challenges

Case 2

The team members found it difficult to find Mehleem as there are two places with the same name and following google maps, they reached the wrong place that was Mehleem Kalan. Our destination was Mehleem Khurd which they came to know when they called the concerned person. After wasting 2 hours they reached there at last in their busy schedule.

Case 3

Our team members let them dive into the search for the next case. Usama Manzoor came up with two cases. We analyzed both cases and one of them was rejected due to budget as it was difficult to arrange 30K in a short time. The other case was rejected as the oy was not passionate and he was not clear about his vision that how will he be able to utilize the amount provided by our team. We struggled hard to find the next case but we were unable to find a realistic case. We approached an audience of 350 on social media to let them know about our mission and the dire need for a new case for a start-up. After a struggle of a week, Mukhtar came up with a case of three sisters yesterday. Sabeena called the concerned girl and told her about the mission and asked few basic and necessary information to analyze. The girl was found to live in a village near Nanakana Sahab She wanted to work in a school as she passed her 10th grade. She asked her how will you be able to utilize the money effectively. The girls told that due to the unavailability of TCS services, she can’t do an online business of sales. Then she told that one of her sisters is keen to learn how to stitch clothes. Our time is planning to visit that place whenever it suits all of us. The young girl has also asked for 24 hours to think about it.

Major Responsibilities

Sabeena created the social accounts (Instagram, Facebook, and You Tube) for خود مختار and communicated with target cases. Abdul Majid, Usama Manzoor, and M. Mukhtar Javed managed the receipts of the funds. Naveed Ahmad was successful to have records of the funds. All the members managed the matter very well.
